BANBURY CONTINUES TO SUCCEED.........Excellent results for the Partnership and Pubwatch members
Some key reductions are being made in the town in aspects which the Crime Partnership and Pubwatch play a very important and influential part. Looking at the figures covering the last 24 months, less serious assaults are down 29.7% in Banbury Town Centre, theft from persons down 40.4% and serious violent crime down a huge 72.7%.
Sgt Bryan Percival stated 'Our local Crime Partnership and Pubwatch scheme members must take credit for their excellent work and by continuing to work together we are succeeding and achieving some excellent reductions, we are very pleased with these results. Across all 35 crime categories our overall crime reduction is 16.1% which is very good. However, the crime categories which are most affected by the Pubwatch and Crime Partnership Activities are clearly being driven down by huge margins'.

Excellence Award for Partnership
1st in Oxfordshire......
Co-ordinators from the partnership were presented with an Award at the Action Against Business Crime (AABC) Conference in Manchester. The Commended Award for Promoting Community Safety was given for 'having made a significant reduction in retail crime and community safety through intelligent co-operation with the business community'.
The yearly Partnership Excellence Awards are a joint award by AABC and the Professional Security Magazine with Crime Partnerships making their application to be considered. Cherwell Crime Partnership is the first in Oxfordshire to receive such an award.
BICESTER PROVES A SUCCESS......
Cherwell Crime Partnership in Bicester is now a 'big success'! It has bucked the trend as UK crime figures rise, Bicester has recorded a 29% drop in the number of shoplifting incidents. The figures compared April to October 2008 with the same period in 2009. Retailers within Bicester all believe this is all down to belonging to the Crime Partnership. Then people have now been banned from the 26 member stores and have been given a 12 month Exclusion Notice by the partnership. Rachel Faulkner, Chair, said "We are encouraged by the scheme's early success. We want to send a clear message to shoplifters that they are not welcome in Bicester. One of the most effective ways to protect our shops is communication between retailers. Members of Bicester's Crime Partnership are already seeing the benefits and we hope that other shops will join us to make Bicester a no-go area for this type of crime".
