First Drink Banning Order in England and Wales
A Banbury man received the first drink banning order in England and Wales in December 2009 after repeatedly breaching the Exclusion Notice placed on him by Banbury Pubwatch, a part of Cherwell Crime Partnership.

Banbury Pubwatch is part of Cherwell Pubwatch and has been in operation since 2001 maintaining a membership of 45+ licensed premises during this time. The scheme has a good reputation and has been approached by other towns as a model of good practice.

EXCLUSIONS
As of August 2010 27 names were on the current banned list, which is displayed in the bar area of all member premises. Every three months all members meet and a new banned list is distributed.
BOARD OF MANAGEMENT/STEERING GROUP
The Board of Management/Steering Group is made up of the Chair, Vice Chair, Treasurer and several other nominated members of the scheme. Their role is to direct and steer the scheme to achieve the aim of reducing crime and disorder as a result of misuse of alcohol or drugs. Partners to the scheme are Thames Valley Police who participate in an advisory capacity only.
The Steering Group meet every month to discuss the nominations received from the membership, appeal letters and how to further support the town and community.
FEES
Membership fees for Banbury are £50.00 per year - these funds are used to support the text message system and the administration of the scheme and to pay for indeminity insurance and registration with the Information Commissioners Office as per the Data Protection Act.
